December 8, 2002
Joy to the World Silent Auction

Our mission is to educate others about SIDS and to aid in research so that one day no parent will be faced with losing their child to this terrifying cause. We started the Hayes Foundation to help guide our mission, and through our efforts help others fulfill their dreams of watching their children grow up.

Our First Event was the Joy to the World Silent Auction sponsored by Cabo's Corner Bistro, and in conjunction the March of Dimes and the Calvert Giving Fund. It was a huge success raising $19,000, far above our goal.

We are working closely with the March of Dimes of Virginia to ensure that the money raised goes toward educating parents and parents to be. One of the reasons we chose March of Dimes is because of their huge tracking record and success. As well, they were named by Worth Magazine as a Top Charity for the Second consecutive Year.

The alarming increase in premature births over the last decade has prompted the March of Dimes to launch a new campaign to raise public awareness of the problem of prematurity and, ultimately, to find ways to reduce the occurrence of premature birth.
Click here to learn more about the campaign.

For each group that receives a grant for the campaign, they are required to disseminate information about SIDS and SIDS prevention in our community. In Central Virginia, this will help us reach over 1000 people with face to face consultation about SIDS and thousands more will receive brochures and useful information.
